Embracing artistry and business ownership: music studio owner rebrands her website
When voice & piano instructor Katie Jillson came to me, her website resembled that of a typical teaching artist: heavy on the bio and numerous accomplishments, with gallery of photos and samples and a little blurb about openings for lessons. Generic stock photos stood alongside photos of her performing and the overall impression was a decorative resume.
But Katie actually had a thriving business! Her primary income source was teaching piano and voice and students adored her. Not because she was an accomplished singer, though that certainly contributes to her expertise, but because of all the other myriad ways she served her students and helped them embrace their own artistry and authentic voice.
Her website was all about her, so new students couldn’t see themselves and their potential when visiting, which meant expanding her business and market was that much more difficult!
Working together, we explored the ins and outs of what made her come alive, what beliefs, values, and philosophies infused her teaching, and what benefits and results her students enjoyed, among other questions. We then made all that the focus of her website and gave her a brand that not only reflected her warmth, groundedness, and expertise, but also gave her a unique business identity that she could easily market and confidently share.
